Finally, they have introduced new services and tools to tackle fake news and combat the spread of misinformation. This new tool has many features and has the ability to analyze false stories. In an announcement the company said, “We believe in giving people a voice and that we cannot become arbiters of truth ourselves, so we’re approaching this problem carefully”.
This social network has added a new title option “It’s a fake news story” to highlight and display spam news and other annoying content. A few weeks ago, in a blog post, the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg said, the company now says it’s testing and starting to roll out some changes focused on “the worst of the worst, on the clear hoaxes spread by spammers for their own gain”. Mark has been trying to defend the site over the fake news. Through this platform, maximum users can call out and identify the fake news easily. This is easy to use tool that makes it simple and easy to mark fake news.
By discarding the financial motivation which is motivating the fake news, Facebook is also working to eliminate the financial payoff for spammers. In a blog post, Adam Mosseri who is the Facebook vice president of news feed sais, “Spammers make money by masquerading as well-known news organizations and posting hoaxes that get people to visit their sites, which are often mostly ads. So we’re doing several things to reduce the financial incentives. On the buying side, we’ve eliminated the ability to spoof domains, which will reduce the prevalence of sites that pretend to be real publications”.
Since the day after the presidential election of the US, the shares of Facebook have decreased by three percent. There are plenty of questions about the fake news regarding presidential election. But there is no doubt that the Facebook which has earned the top position among other tech companies are trying to extract this topic from the headlines and news feed about the company.
The company also described that it is looking for other possibilities and extending the future feature to bring an instant change in the world of fake news stories.
