For working parents’s in Hong Kong, Campfire’s got your back.
Campfire has two locations with creches: Camp Whampoa and Camp Wong Chuk Hang, both of which will be opening in early 2019. Our child-friendly workspaces, combined within our coworking spaces, will be the first and ‘one of a kind’ coworking environments in Hong Kong.
Coworking spaces need more than free coffee
We believe that it’s no longer enough to entice the millennial generation with yoga, networking and free coffees. Instead, we’re passionate about pushing the boundaries and finding solutions for real concerns, such as helping entrepreneurial parents (especially hard working Hong Kong parents) that want flexible childcare that can easily fit around their work schedules.
So far, none of the coworking offices in Hong Kong have attempted to offer any form of childcare and we’re proud to be the pioneers!
Campfire is accommodating a local and global trend
If freelancing continues to grow at its current rate, the majority of the workforce in the United States will be freelancing by 2027. The same applies to Hong Kong. Adam Gregory, LinkedIn’s Hong Kong country manager, recently said that LinkedIn expects freelancers to represent 43 per cent of the workforce by 2020, compared to a mere 6 per cent in 1989.
The Hong Kong working mums
Most governments around the world are encouraging women with young children back into the jobs market. Indeed, here in Hong Kong we’ve seen Chief Executive Carrie Lam push through a bunch of legislation aimed at improving women’s rights within the workplace, such as having more women in advisory and statutory bodies and extending maternity leave from 10 to 14 weeks.
A survey conducted in 2018 showed that 45 percent of coworking members will be women. At Campfire we feel that there’s a rising trend of women-only coworking spaces for working women who wanted to grow their businesses within an inclusive environment.
So, in summary, we’re delighted to be able to offer working Mum’s and Dad’s an opportunity to maximise their time by combining a creche within some of our workplaces.
